Biography

 



 


E. Lynn Baldwin began his photographic career with the encouragement of his father. They built a darkroom in the basement of the family home in Hampton, Iowa, and his father taught him the basics of developing and printing photographs. After attending several U.S. Navy schools, Lynn's professional career began when he joined an aerial reconnaissance squadron working in the Pacific. Returning to civilian life, he worked in commercial, medical and editorial photography. He headed the Department of Medical Communication at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas until he retired in 1993.


His fine art photography has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and the United Kingdom. Venues include Houston Center for Photography (TX), Galveston Arts Center (TX), Center for Contemporary Art (Abilene, TX), Society for Contemporary Photography (Kansas City, MO), International Cultural Center at Texas Tech (Lubbock, TX), and the Richard Wilson Arts Center (Nantlle, Wales). His work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at University of Texas at Austin.


He is a member of the board of directors of the Texas Photographic Society and past president of the Biological Communication Association. He also served on the board of Houston Center for Photography.
